Marijuana

Unfortunately, marijuana remains illegal across most of Africa. This is in spite of the fact that marijuana is deeply ingrained in numerous African cultures to the point that Egypt, Morocco, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and Lesotho rarely enforce their own laws banning the substance.

However, signs of progress are apparent. South Africa has legalized marijuana, and the movement has spread to Lesotho in the form of bills to legalize medical marijuana and decriminalize it recreationally. Public attitudes are shifting around the world, including numerous African nations.

Continuous activism is needed to open this massive revenue potential to Africa's emerging economy.
